Position Overview

The Cashier position at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank's branch in Malkajgiri, Telangana, is a full-time role within Branch Banking. Reporting to the Branch Operation Manager, this role is critical for managing all cash-related transactions and corresponding entries in registers or online systems, conducted as per bank guidelines. Daily reconciliation and custody of branch cash resources are key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently handle all cash operations of the branch including processing cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and other financial instruments within defined withdrawal limits.
• Disburse and collect cash against various transactions such as deposits and loan EMIs; maintain accurate system records for all such activities.
• Maintain and update all financial registers including inward/outward, petty cash, and asset registers and coordinate requisition forms submission.
• Perform daily cash tallying aligned with transaction books and vouchers; prepare end-of-day branch reports for cash management.
• Share responsibility for managing branch vault operations and cash custody together with relevant officers.
• Engage with customers during transactions to understand their needs, promote bank products, and educate on alternative banking channels.
• Deliver superior customer service, manage grievances promptly, and ensure customers understand repayment processes and contact points.

Operational Duties

• Conduct cash count and verification at opening and closing times before vaulting.
• Safeguard branch cash, keys, and valuables jointly with the Assistant Branch Manager to ensure smooth cash department operations.
• Ensure all transactions adhere to turnaround time requirements and maintain compliance with regulatory and bank policies.
• Validate customer identity for withdrawals and verify cash deposit slip accuracy in accordance with audit standards.
• Update passbooks post-transaction and prepare cash bundles for submission to currency chests.

Development and Compliance

• Keep abreast of bank products, regulatory requirements, and 'Know Your Customer' protocols.
• Complete required certifications and adhere to mandatory training schedules.
• Participate in performance-related processes including goal setting and appraisals within prescribed timelines.

Skills and Qualifications

• Any undergraduate degree preferred in Finance or Commerce disciplines.
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience managing cash transactions at volume with exposure to financial software/ERP systems and accounting consolidation.
• Strong skills in cash handling, counterfeit detection, numerical accuracy, and multitasking.
• Proficient with computer operations; on-the-job training for relevant software will be provided.
• Positive interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
