Job description

Role Overview

This position is based in Aldermaston, Berkshire, focused on maintaining electrical systems and their associated equipment along with delivering necessary certifications. The role includes preparing estimates or quotations when required, isolating faulty equipment from power sources, conducting visual inspections for defects, testing mechanical parts, diagnosing issues, and implementing corrective repairs. You will be responsible for upholding engineering standards, safety, health, fatigue, and morale, reporting any concerns to the section leader. Tasks include scheduling any unfinished planned or reactive maintenance with the planner and notifying the section leader accordingly. Additionally, you will act as a Competent Person (Electrical) under the authority of the Authorised Person.

Working Hours and Compensation

The weekly schedule operates on a two-week rotation: the first week runs Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm (with a 4:15 pm finish on Friday), and the second week is Monday to Thursday from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, with every other Friday off. The salary offered is £43,989 annually, including onsite allowances. Overtime is compensated at a flat rate Monday to Friday and at 1.5 times the standard rate on Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possession of City & Guilds 2360 Part 1 & 2 certification or an equivalent NVQ qualification
  • Certified with City & Guilds 2382 -10 (18th Edition) at minimum
  • City & Guilds 2391-10 Inspection & Testing or recognized equivalent certification is advantageous
  • Proven experience in installation, testing, and maintenance of low voltage (LV) distribution systems
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safe working practices and permit-to-work systems
