Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco, you act as the company's representative on the road, regularly engaging with customers at their homes. This position involves more than just driving; it focuses on assisting people and providing excellent customer service with a positive attitude. The role is physically engaging, varied daily, and requires working independently for much of the time, while having supportive management and colleagues available when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the van, trays, and work area to ensure every delivery arrives in pristine condition.
- Load the delivery vehicle safely and perform necessary checks to confirm it is safe, reliable, and fit for daily delivery tasks.
- Communicate politely and clearly with customers regarding any changes to their orders, substitutions, or short-dated products, including handling refunds to ensure a smooth customer experience.
- Handle items carefully, treating each order as if it were your own to uphold quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders punctually within the scheduled time slot, providing warm and genuine service at the doorstep to make customers feel appreciated and cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with colleagues, fostering team spirit to achieve excellent customer service.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor towards both customers and team members.
- Adaptability to quickly respond to changing customer needs and embrace new situations both on the road and at the store.
- Possession of a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) for at least one year, with no more than three penalty points.
