Job description
Role Overview
Serving as the representative of Tesco on the road, the Customer Delivery Driver visits customers at their homes daily. Beyond just driving, this role emphasizes assisting clients and delivering excellent, friendly service. It involves physical tasks and a diverse range of activities, with each shift offering new experiences. Drivers work largely independently but have the support of managers and teammates at the base.
Key Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the van, trays, and work area to ensure customers receive their orders in perfect condition.
- Load the van safely, performing the necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and reliable.
- Communicate clearly and kindly with customers about any changes to orders, substitutions, or nearing expiration items, and provide refunds when appropriate to ensure a smooth experience.
- Handle every product carefully, treating each order as personal to preserve quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders punctually within the designated time window, offering warm and natural service at the doorstep to leave customers feeling appreciated.
Candidate Requirements
- Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit and ensure outstanding customer service.
- Display warmth and friendliness with both customers and team members.
- Adapt swiftly to evolving customer demands and changes both on the road and at the store.
- Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay rate of £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25. Additional site-specific bonuses may apply.
- A guaranteed minimum of 16 working hours each week, with some roles available from 12 hours.
- Initial holiday entitlement of 20 days plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year, plus bank holidays.
