Job description

Position Overview

The Houseman is responsible for ensuring all designated hotel areas are clean, well-maintained, and adhered to company standards. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the hotel's appearance and providing superior customer service to guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and distribute linens and handle trash removal.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor reflecting positively on the company with guests.
  • Keep all storage areas tidy and organized.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sidewalks, stairs, exterior doors, windows, and vents.
  • Empty wastebaskets and properly dispose of trash materials.
  • Vacuum guest rooms and public areas on a daily basis.
  • Assist with special projects as instructed by the Housekeeping Supervisor or management.
  • Replace used linens daily with fresh ones.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all hotel patrons.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer service.
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Capability to work extended shifts, up to 12 hours.
  • Regular physical activities include reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects and controls with repetitive movements.
  • Good visual and auditory abilities are required.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 80 pounds.
  • Must communicate regularly with kitchen staff and be able to read kitchen-related documents.
  • Exposure to occupational hazards such as slipping, tripping, falls, dirt, temperature extremes, wet conditions, harsh cleaning chemicals, and frequent hand washing is common.
