About the Role
Join Genesys as a Senior Software Engineer on the Journey Data backend team to develop innovative AI-powered customer experience solutions. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to design, implement, and manage scalable features throughout the full software lifecycle, using modern technologies like Amazon Web Services, Jenkins, New Relic, and proprietary Genesys tools.
Team Focus
- Enhancing Customer Segmentation capabilities that cluster customers by attributes and behaviors for agent orchestration.
- Developing Predictive Engagement systems that proactively assist web and mobile visitors at critical moments in their journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in designing and operating backend services with a focus on performance and reliability.
- Contribute across the entire development lifecycle from ideation to production monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric features.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Lead complex projects to successful completion with minimal supervision.
- Support on-call rotations and incident management activities.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ industry experience in software engineering.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or an equivalent field.
- Advanced expertise in Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
- Strong proficiency with multi-layered testing techniques including unit, integration, and user acceptance tests.
- Experience designing NoSQL databases suited for high-throughput, low-latency use cases.
- Knowledge of distributed microservice resilience patterns like circuit breakers, bulkheads, rate limiting, and retry strategies.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS cloud environments.
- Competence with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to own services end-to-end, encompassing design through production observability.
- Skillful in optimizing performance and debugging production-scale systems.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability to emerging technologies in an agile setting.
- Awareness of AI technologies with appreciation for privacy, safety, and reliability concerns relevant to the role.
- Proven leadership in delivering complex software initiatives collaboratively with product design, QA, and other teams.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, IAM, and CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with supporting tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, New Relic, OpenTelemetry, Sumo Logic, Kafka, Avro, Resilience4j, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Knowledge in infrastructure-as-code practices involving module design, state management, and multi-environment deployment.
- Exposure to supplementary programming languages like JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and Groovy.
- Utilization of AI-powered coding tools for producing production-ready software.
