Role Summary

Embedded within the Americas Team, the Actuary will provide expertise in pricing, portfolio segmentation, and management to support expanding insurance offerings. This position involves collaborating closely with both internal teams and external underwriters, leveraging analytics to optimize product value and inform strategic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply actuarial pricing techniques to develop pricing models, risk evaluations, and product strategy suggestions.
  • Assist in launching new products through pricing assessments and underwriting guideline formulation.
  • Review rate developments, monitor loss ratios, and support product lifecycle stages alongside insurance partnership teams.
  • Collaborate with Data, Platform, and Data Science departments to innovate insurance products.
  • Communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders to strengthen insurer and reinsurer relationships.
  • Maintain a proactive and solution-oriented demeanor when addressing stakeholder inquiries.
  • Continuously seek process improvements to reduce inefficiencies and risk exposures.
  • Enhance expertise in relevant software tools for pricing, modeling, and dashboard creation.
  • Develop and oversee dashboards tracking loss ratio performance across various markets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.
  • Associate or Fellow level certification as an actuary.
  • Minimum five years of actuarial experience, specifically in property and casualty or non-life insurance sectors.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and technical capabilities.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Excel; programming skills in R and/or Python are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to independently initiate projects.
  • Comfortable adapting to fast-paced, startup-like environments.

The salary range for this position in Canada spans from CAD 115,000 to CAD 145,000, depending on experience.
