About the Role
The Machine Learning Frameworks team focuses on optimizing both the speed and fluidity of the research iteration cycle and maximizing production performance on hardware. Our main challenge—and source of excitement—is achieving both objectives concurrently.
Specifically, we develop components like optimisers, code generation tools, runtime libraries, and an orchestration layer that manages computations across diverse hardware systems. Our technology stack includes C++, Rust, Python, MLIR, and CUDA. While mastery of all these is not required, candidates should be eager to work deeply within such a stack.
Scope of Work
The responsibilities span from a high-level overview of the entire compute pipeline, integrating systems holistically, to detailed low-level performance tuning, including analyzing hardware behavior and optimizing compute graphs to extract maximum performance from critical execution paths. The role involves managing the entire technology stack from start to finish.
Candidate Profile
- Proficiency in writing production-quality software in a systems programming language such as C++ or Rust, or similar, with adaptability to learn new tools as needed.
- Strong understanding of how programming languages compile down and execute on hardware.
- Comfortable navigating unfamiliar components within a complex stack independently.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, discerning underlying needs beyond the stated requirements.
- Commercial experience owning and maintaining production systems, including debugging and supporting software beyond initial deployment.
What Is Not Required
No prior finance industry experience is necessary. Familiarity with every technology we use is not expected. We seek engineers passionate about addressing challenges our traders encounter and will provide the necessary domain context.
