About The Traineeships
Muswellbrook Shire Council is inviting applications for six School Based Traineeship openings available in five distinct roles starting November 2026.
This program allows candidates to blend paid work experience, formal training, and school education to achieve a nationally recognized qualification while completing the Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Available Positions
- Two positions as School Based Trainee Café Assistants leading to a Certificate II in Hospitality.
- One School Based Trainee Human Resources Assistant position with a Certificate III in Business.
- One School Based Trainee ICT Support Officer role offering a Certificate III in Information Technology.
- One School Based Trainee Property Officer position earning a Certificate III in Business.
- One School Based Trainee Works Operator – Parks position providing a Certificate II in Horticulture.
Applicants may apply for one or multiple positions and must indicate their preferred roles during the application process.
Applicant Criteria
- Current enrollment in Year 10 with plans to continue through Years 11 and 12 to complete the HSC.
- Capability and commitment to balance paid work, formal training, and school commitments.
- Willingness to pursue the relevant nationally recognized qualification alongside HSC studies.
- Basic skills in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
- Readiness to learn, follow guidance, and work within supervised settings.
- Ability to contribute constructively within a team atmosphere.
