Role Overview

The Engineering Experience team at Wise enhances developer productivity by building and maintaining essential services and tools for more than 1,200 engineers. They focus on delivering scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solutions that make a significant impact across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and operate AI-driven engineering tools, including overseeing security, model access, telemetry, and evaluation.
• Develop and maintain an engineering knowledge base accessible via a MCP server to provide trusted internal information for engineers and AI agents.
• Lead AI adoption through practical workshops, guidance, and campaigns to empower engineering teams in their daily workflows.
• Create and maintain products that streamline software development stages from setup to deployment and operations.
• Enhance shared engineering services and portals to make tools, guidelines, and engineering data easily accessible and actionable.
• Identify common engineering challenges through research, feedback, and data analysis, then develop software and process improvements that save time and increase efficiency across teams.

Candidate Requirements

• Senior-level software engineer proficient in either Java, Go, or TypeScript, with comfort working in a polyglot environment.
• Proven expertise in designing, building, and operating production-grade software services with an emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
• Strong software design skills, capable of decomposing complex problems into well-defined, testable, and observable systems.
• Practical experience implementing and managing agent-based AI tools in real user scenarios, including handling context, constraints, and output review.
• Enthusiasm for AI developer tools and commitment to staying current with advancements in the field, particularly in building, securing, evaluating, and driving adoption of these technologies.
• Experience creating internal platforms for engineers, demonstrating empathy by treating engineers as end-users.
• Track record of leading large-scale technical projects, navigating uncertainty while maintaining progress.
• Strong skills in code review and a commitment to high engineering standards, providing constructive feedback to support team members' growth.
• Effective communicator with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences, lead workshops, and advocate for organizational change.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: £111,000 to £145,000 per year.
