Job Overview
This role involves welcoming guests at the dining venue, assessing their party size, and seating them by locating a neat and available table. Responsibilities include preparing seating areas by arranging chairs, providing fresh menus, and escorting guests within the dining environment while assisting them as needed. The hostess coordinates seating arrangements, especially for groups with unique requirements, and ensures that each place setting is complete with napkins, clean cutlery, and other standard items. Maintaining clean and updated menus is essential, as well as keeping workspaces tidy throughout the day following clean-as-you-go practices.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and determine the number in their party for seating arrangements.
- Prepare tables and seating areas, including chair placement and clean menus.
- Assist and guide guests through the dining spaces, accommodating any special needs.
- Monitor dining room availability, service standards, guest safety, and comfort.
- Adhere to company policies on safety, security, and accident reporting.
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues; handle phone etiquette.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve collective goals and respond to employee concerns.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and moving objects up to 10 pounds.
- Complete other reasonable duties as directed by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- No prior related work or supervisory experience required.
- No licenses or certifications necessary.
