Role Responsibilities

This hands-on technology position requires expert-level resolution of highly complex legacy system defects and developing robust, scalable Java applications using modern frameworks and enterprise technologies. You will also act as a technical leader, fostering engineering excellence across teams while aligning deliverables with business goals, regulatory requirements, and the Bank's standards for secure and reliable IT operations.

• Resolve challenging legacy system defects that are beyond the scope of average developers.
• Effectively communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
• Drive improvements and raise engineering standards among developers.
• Gain organizational recognition as a strong technical problem solver.
• Develop and deliver solutions using Java, EJB, Spring Boot, Oracle databases, and Kafka streaming technology.
• Translate business and system requirements into scalable, stable, and fit-for-purpose technical solutions.
• Ensure all outputs conform to the bank’s standards, covering code quality, security, and performance.
• Work with Wealth Management systems such as Triple'A Plus and E-Assets.
• Engage in full software development lifecycle activities including analysis, design, coding, and implementation of complex, custom-built applications.
• Collaborate closely with team members in Agile environments, such as Scrum and Extreme Programming.
• Adopt and follow best practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI).
• Investigate and resolve production issues to maintain a stable operational environment and perform effectively under crisis conditions.
• Manage stakeholder relationships by partnering with finance, business change engineers, and project managers to ensure successful IT delivery.
• Analyze requirements, estimate effort, plan timelines, and monitor progress.
• Maintain strong communication throughout project lifecycles to ensure stakeholder engagement and support.
• Lead technical and architectural design reviews, enforce architectural guidelines, and challenge existing norms.
• Exhibit integrity and responsibility in compliance with applicable legislation, ensuring risk and issue management to deliver on target timelines and quality standards.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in Core Java and Java EE development.
• At least 3 years of experience in the financial domain, preferably banking/finance sector.
• Minimum 2 years’ expertise with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Experienced in translating functional requirements into efficient, fit-for-purpose technical solutions.

Technical Skills Required

• Proficient in Core Java 8+ and unit testing with JUnit.
• Solid foundation in computer science concepts including algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design.
• Skilled in writing acceptance tests within a TDD approach.
• Experienced with Maven build automation.
• Basic knowledge of Linux shell scripting.
• Understanding of Java messaging technologies such as JMS and MQ.
• Good grasp of relational database concepts including SQL, joins, indexes, and triggers.
• Familiarity with Web Services such as REST and SOAP.
• Understanding of Spring framework core concepts.
• Experience optimizing SQL queries for performance.
• Comfortable using development tools like IntelliJ IDEA, Git, and SonarQube/SonarLint.

Desirable Technical Expertise

• Knowledge of JBOSS or other application servers.
• Experience with Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with Java Server Faces (JSF), Java Persistence API (JPA), and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB).
• Ability to write and comprehend complex SQL queries.
• Basic understanding of front-end frameworks such as ReactJS or Angular.
