About Pantheon
Pantheon unites skilled creators who take initiative, deliver impactful outcomes, and influence the future of the web. Supporting over 300,000 websites worldwide, including clients like Google and the United Nations, thousands of developers and marketers use its WebOps platform daily to build and manage WordPress, Drupal, and Next.js sites reaching billions.
Pantheon champions a culture combining strong foundations with autonomy, fostering a vibrant, remote-first team of experts passionate about excellence and results. Employees own meaningful work, collaborate with talented colleagues, and witness the direct effects of their contributions.
The Opportunity
At Pantheon, the next chapter of web content infrastructure is unfolding — a cutting-edge, real-time collaborative platform aimed at transforming team content creation, publication, and management for the modern web, rewriting two decades of convention.
As a Software Engineer II, you’ll join as one of the early engineers on this promising product. Responsibilities include end-to-end feature development, shaping architecture, and partnering closely with a senior, fast-moving team invested in high craftsmanship. This role requires initiative beyond ticket implementation, contributing to defining prioritization and design.
The Role
You will engage fully in full-stack development, covering backend services, API development, and frontend systems, playing a key role in crafting the foundational features of this collaborative content platform. Collaboration extends beyond engineers to product and design teams to deliver reliable tools used daily by developers and content creators.
The team remains in an intentionally formative stage, with the product evolving as it’s built. Every engineer’s voice is valued and influential — ideal for self-driven individuals eager to shape their work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, build, and release full-stack features spanning backend, APIs, and frontend interfaces
- Produce clean, well-tested, maintainable code with shared accountability for software quality
- Engage actively in technical design conversations and architectural planning, contributing ideas and expertise
- Work closely with product and design stakeholders to transform requirements into finely crafted software
- Integrate AI tools both into development processes and product capabilities
- Conduct and participate in code reviews to uphold high engineering standards
- Embrace rapid learning and growth opportunities within a challenging, supportive environment
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven full-stack development experience, comfortable delivering production-level backend and frontend code and adaptable to project needs
- Expertise in modern API design standards such as REST, GraphQL, or webhooks
- Familiarity with cloud-native platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure
- Strong coding fundamentals emphasizing testing, tradeoffs, and long-term maintainability
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend programming language
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Active use of AI technologies, either integrated in development workflows or embedded within product features
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive salary and equity participation
- Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and 12 company holidays annually
- Comprehensive medical coverage including extended health, dental, and vision plans
- High-quality equipment provided
- Optional in-office workspace based in Vancouver, BC
- Monthly stipends for wellness, learning materials, and access to continuing education resources
- Company-wide and team-focused events fostering education and community
