About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Estimator to join our team, focusing on commercial landscaping projects. This permanent position involves preparing comprehensive estimates by analyzing bid documents, reviewing subcontractor offers, and liaising with clients and construction experts. The role demands high accuracy, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret complex construction drawings and specifications to create detailed estimates regarding time, cost, labor, and materials.
- Develop detailed project proposals and bids for client submissions.
- Assess commercial construction costs and perform risk evaluations.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Oversee the bidding process, including detailed take-offs and cost computations.
- Track project deadlines to guarantee punctual completion of estimates.
- Communicate with team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Engage in project meetings and report on estimate status.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in estimating techniques.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years' experience in construction estimating, ideally within specialty contracting.
- Expertise in reading and comprehending complex construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction pricing and principles.
- Excellent numerical and analytical aptitude.
- Experience with estimating software and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills with capability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Proactive problem-solver capable of making informed decisions under stress.
