Utility Locator

About the Role

UtiliQuest, LLC is hiring a Utility Locator in Athens, Alabama. This position is designed for someone who wants to build a career in utility locating by learning the safety practices, tools, and methods used to identify underground utility lines. You will train alongside experienced locators, help mark buried lines, and keep accurate records so construction work can move forward safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

• Learn the core techniques of utility locating, safety procedures, and how to use the equipment.
• Build knowledge of local utility systems and the rules that apply to them.
• Work with seasoned locators to identify and mark underground utility lines.
• Handle utility locating tools and equipment in the field.
• Record location details using digital mapping systems.
• Carry out work in changing weather conditions.

What You’ll Need

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You need to be legally authorized to work in the United States for this employer.
• A high school diploma, GED, or comparable relevant experience is required.
• A valid state driver’s license is necessary; provisional licenses are not accepted.
• You must have an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Regularly work alone in remote areas.
• Frequently perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level.
• Operate a vehicle as part of the job.
• Use hand strength and precise finger movements.
• Frequently bend, stoop, stand, walk, and lift up to 55 pounds.
• Use a keyboard and mouse as needed.
• Occasionally use a portable ladder.
• Occasionally work in confined spaces.
• Occasionally climb stairs.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour.
