Technical Support Engineer

Role overview

This position focuses on delivering proactive technical assistance across tendering and project delivery. The role supports all project-related requirements and submissions, while also handling technically oriented documentation in close coordination with the sales and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Examine customer information, specifications, drawings, and related documents to define the system design needs.
• Carry out the required calculations and technical analysis, including data interpretation, pressure drop studies, and flow analysis.
• Prepare project-specific method statements that align with the scope of work, commercial and technical proposals, and client/regional standards, specifications, and guidelines.
• Develop project drawings and working plans in line with design requirements, including system layouts, cross-sections, electrical and hydraulic layouts, construction drawings, and discharge layouts for NOC submissions; familiarity with geographic coordinate systems is preferred.
• Support the bidding process by identifying scope items and creating BOQ measurement entries from client drawings and design concepts.
• Compile cost estimates based on engineering inputs, bills of quantity, and client-specific requirements.
• Assist with bid evaluation and help determine whether to acknowledge or decline opportunities according to company strategy.
• Stay current with industry standards, customer requirements, and new product developments, ensuring technical solutions remain compliant and effective.
• Research and recommend alternative approaches that meet technical needs in a more cost-efficient way.
• Develop studies and recommendations that reduce project cost, improve efficiency, and support revenue growth from technical solutions.
• Manage multiple projects at once and maintain strong documentation control practices.
• Keep stakeholders informed about technical support progress, task status, issues, and possible delays.
• Follow departmental and company policies, procedures, and processes at all times.
• Attend site visits with the relevant Project Engineer and Operations Supervisor when needed.
• Create ad hoc AutoCAD drawings as requested by the Line Manager.
• Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, sales, operations, warehouse, and accounting teams as required.
• Carry out any additional objectives assigned by senior management to support business growth.
• Work with internal project stakeholders to identify and resolve risks linked to technical solutions, contracts, documentation, and execution.
• Spot issues and opportunities, escalate suitable matters to the Line Manager, and help facilitate discussion and decision-making.
• Support marketing activities, prepare prequalification documents, and create customized datasheets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar qualification from a recognized international university.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, pump applications, and pump selection.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Clear verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Proven experience handling several tender proposals at the same time.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving ability to support sound decisions.
• Effective teamwork and communication across internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially MS Excel.
