Role overview
Positive Futures supports people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, and autism, helping them build fuller lives with the right support, delivered by the right people at the right time. This position is based at Manorhub, Park Road Industrial Estate in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim.
The organisation’s mission is to help people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury, or autism work together to achieve their goals and transform their lives. The main purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality support that enables each person to live independently and make their own choices with control over day-to-day life.
Interviews for this vacancy are scheduled for Thursday 9 July 2026 and Friday 10 July 2026. The closing date is Monday 6 July 2026.
Key duties
- Build respectful, positive working relationships with the people supported while maintaining proper professional boundaries with them and their families.
- Encourage inclusion and help people stay connected with their local community, while delivering person-centred support based on each individual’s portfolio and goals.
- Help people understand their responsibilities in relation to their home and tenancy arrangements.
- Assist with everyday domestic tasks such as grocery shopping, preparing nutritious meals, cleaning, gardening, laundering clothes, and ironing.
- Support physical and emotional wellbeing and help people stay safe and healthy in all areas of life.
- Help people recognise, understand, and protect themselves from different forms of abuse.
- Promote independence, communication, and social skills so people can make choices and participate in community life, including leisure, training, volunteering, and work where appropriate.
- Carry out all duties in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
Experience and suitability
Applicants should have at least 6 months of paid or voluntary experience providing care or support to someone. A full valid EEA/EU driving licence is required for this post.
Additional strengths that would be welcomed include experience supporting a person with autism, a recognised Level 5 qualification relevant to the role, a degree in social work, psychology, or an allied health field, a postgraduate qualification related to the role, and confidence using standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
