Job description

Role overview

The Senior Material Controller will manage the receiving, storage, tracking, protection, and release of materials, equipment, and consumables for the Wheeler River Project. The position is focused on keeping inventory accurate, maintaining traceability, and ensuring all materials are handled safely and in line with project expectations.

This position is located at the project site in the Athabasca Basin and follows a two-week rotation schedule.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise the acceptance, checking, storage, preservation, and release of project materials, equipment, and consumables.
  • Keep inventory data and material tracking tools current so all project assets can be traced without gaps.
  • Arrange the movement of materials, including shipments and transfers between suppliers, warehouse locations, and site operations.
  • Assist construction and commissioning teams by making sure tools, spare parts, consumables, and other required items are on hand when needed.
  • Watch stock levels closely and flag items that need replenishment to keep work moving.
  • Carry out material management tasks in line with project procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Produce material status updates and share information on inventory, deliveries, and material availability with project stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in materials management and will be comfortable supporting major industrial, mining, or construction projects. This role suits someone highly organized, detail-focused, and able to work effectively in a remote site environment where coordination and inventory discipline are essential.

  • At least 10 years of experience in materials control, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain work in industrial, mining, or construction settings.
  • Prior experience supporting large construction or capital projects in a remote location.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, materials handling, warehousing, and logistics workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with material tracking systems, stock records, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of procurement, transportation, customs, and supply chain processes is an advantage.
  • Comfortable using MS Office and inventory or ERP software.
  • Strong skills in organization, communication, and problem-solving.
