Role overview

The Research Analyst will support the IT-Non-IT Workgroup (ITW) within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) by delivering research, analysis, and reporting that help guide decisions. The position contributes to both IT and non-IT initiatives and works closely with stakeholders and governance groups to keep projects moving in line with VHA priorities.

What you will do

  • Collect and examine information related to IT and non-IT initiatives, then turn complex data into practical insights and recommendations.
  • Build detailed reports, briefing documents, and status updates for ITW leads, stakeholders, and VHA executive leadership.
  • Help create project plans, timelines, deliverables, and KPIs for work across the ITW portfolio.
  • Coordinate meetings and briefings, including communication and logistics support for stakeholders.
  • Keep research records, project updates, and meeting notes organized, accurate, and easy to trace.
  • Support the progress of funded and unfunded IT/non-IT efforts while aligning with VHA strategic goals and governance requirements.

Required qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Research, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Healthcare Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in research and data analysis, ideally in healthcare or a government environment.
  • Previous acquisition and budget experience with a federal agency is required.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to convert data findings into recommendations that support leadership decisions.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, along with data analysis software.
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders.

Preferred background

  • Exposure to IT and non-IT funding processes in the VHA or another federal organization.
  • Working knowledge of the New Service Request (NSR) and Multi-Year Programming (MYP) processes.
