Job description

Role overview

The Remote Replay Operator supports live sports and studio productions by handling replay and clip-based content across platforms such as EVS LSM, Evertz Dreamcatcher, GV LiveTouch, SimplyLive ViBox, and Dreamcatcher. The work happens in a fast-moving broadcast setting covering a broad range of sports and events. This person creates, organizes, records, edits, and plays back clips in line with requests from the producer and director, while also monitoring multiple camera feeds to deliver instant slow-motion replays of important moments.

The role calls for strong knowledge of sports, leagues, athletes, rules, common infractions, and game strategy, along with the ability to understand complex technical workflows in a mobile unit and the connected systems that support remote production. The operator is expected to take a leadership role in the replay room during live shows, contribute to advanced operational planning, help resolve technical problems, and communicate clearly with onsite operations management.

Responsibilities

  • Run the replay position during live events, either as a dedicated replay operator or as a packager, and build content with little direction by following the flow of the game.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of professional and collegiate sports, including season-long storylines, major players, upcoming games, strategies, and rules, so key moments can be spotted and presented quickly on air.
  • Create highlight packages, teasers, and montages in real time while working to strict broadcast deadlines.
  • Choose from several camera angles to produce immediate slow-motion replays of critical plays and moments.
  • Make sure server channels and software are correctly set up before the broadcast and fix technical problems as they happen.
  • Work with other teams to plan and support Event Operations requirements for specific productions.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of hands-on live TV production or similar experience in a major broadcast market, digital or streaming environment, or comparable collegiate setting.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and travel when required.
  • Strong ability to perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines, work independently, and manage several tasks at once.
  • Consistent delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and help build a positive work culture.
  • Comfort with constant change and shifting production demands.
  • Deep technical command of EVS broadcast systems, including XT-series servers, LSM Remote, and IPDirector.
  • Ability to stay composed in high-pressure mobile unit environments when unexpected issues occur.
  • Strong grasp of the events being covered so gameplay and emotional moments can be anticipated.
  • Experience working in a mobile unit on a live sports remote broadcast is preferred.
  • Knowledge of remote production workflows and equipment, including replay machines, telestration systems, all-in-one production units, and video router infrastructure, is preferred.
  • Experience with broadcast production equipment, workflows, and technology for remote productions is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of remote production and mobile unit operations is preferred.
  • Ability to lead peers during a live production, assign priorities, and delegate tasks to meet production needs is preferred.
  • Frequent collaboration with Production Operations and related support teams is expected.
  • Must be able to work nights, holidays, and weekends.

Education

  • High school diploma, vocational school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Video Production, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related discipline is preferred.
