Role overview
Walls Construction Limited is looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of major building projects from the pre-construction stage through completion and handover. This position calls for a mix of technical know-how, commercial judgement, and the ability to bring together multiple specialist teams so that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high quality standard.
What you will do
- Set up and oversee the overall project plan, including sequencing, scheduling, and site logistics.
- Work with design professionals to ensure information is issued on time and technical issues are resolved promptly.
- Lead meetings with design teams, coordination groups, and subcontractors when needed.
- Put project control measures in place, such as tracking progress, preparing reports, and managing risk.
- Direct site activities to ensure work is carried out in the right order and in line with specifications.
- Make sure project delivery follows contract requirements, legal obligations, and recognised industry practices.
- Partner with the commercial team on budget control, forecasting, and value management.
- Contribute to tender assessments, subcontractor and material procurement, and contract package negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, company procedures, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Serve as the main contact for clients, design consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare accurate progress updates, performance reports, and KPI-based summaries in a timely manner.
- Build productive working relationships with key stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
- Guide, support, and motivate project teams, site managers, engineers, and other support personnel.
- Promote a strong performance culture centered on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Spot skills gaps and support learning and development across the team.
Experience and qualifications
The ideal candidate should have 5 to 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a main contractor and a proven history of delivering medium to large construction projects valued from €10m to €150m+.
A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required, along with solid technical understanding of modern construction techniques, Irish building regulations, BCAR, and relevant industry standards.
You should also be comfortable using project management software and demonstrate strong commercial capability, including experience handling budgets, contracts, and procurement processes effectively.
