Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager for a general contractor based in Washington, DC. In this position, you will guide construction work from the preconstruction stage all the way to final closeout. The role gives you responsibility for budgets, schedules, subcontractor coordination, and communication with clients while contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys building, solving problems, and staying engaged across every phase of a project.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction projects from early planning through closeout, with a focus on safety, schedule adherence, and budget control.
  • Support site safety and quality practices, and take part in inspections and site walkthroughs.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activity, address field challenges, and ensure work matches drawings, specifications, and client needs.
  • Assist with estimating, quantity takeoffs, proposals, and subcontractor bidding, as well as buyout and contract support.
  • Track budgets, forecasts, change orders, vendor invoices, and owner billing.
  • Help with permit coordination and make sure work complies with codes, regulations, and contract terms.
  • Keep project records current, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and closeout documents.
  • Work closely with superintendents and field staff to keep execution on track.
  • Join OAC, subcontractor, and internal meetings to monitor progress and maintain alignment.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with clients, design professionals, and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Between 4 and 8+ years of experience in construction project management.
  • Background in supporting or leading projects from preconstruction through completion.
  • Strong skills in organization, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Comfort using construction and office tools such as Procore and Microsoft Office.
