Job description
Role overview
This position brings together design coordination, construction delivery, client liaison, and regulatory compliance. The aim is to deliver work safely, to a high standard, and within agreed timelines while keeping all parties aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of projects end to end, starting at initial design review and continuing through final handover, while keeping the work aligned with contract obligations, budget, programme, and quality targets.
- Act as the main contact for clients, local authorities, designers, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate civil works for road and transport schemes, including any required statutory approvals and related interfaces.
- Build, review, and maintain project schedules and resourcing plans, making adjustments when site conditions or priorities change.
- Track project expenditure, issue variation notifications, handle claims, and maintain commercial control to protect profitability.
- Prepare and oversee health and safety documentation, including risk assessments, RAMS, method statements, and compliance with HSE requirements.
- Carry out site inspections, quality checks, and verification against specifications, while identifying defects and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Manage procurement of materials, plant/equipment, and subcontract packages, while monitoring deliveries and logistics.
- Support, coach, and supervise site teams, helping maintain morale, output, and alignment with company standards and values.
- Produce progress reports, client communications, meeting notes, KPI updates, and maintain strong document control across the project.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in construction or engineering.
- At least 4 years of post-qualification experience on road or public realm projects.
- Proven commercial ability, including budget management, pricing, variation control, and claims handling.
- Strong knowledge of Irish civil contract requirements and NFC standards/specifications, including TII-related standards.
- Working knowledge of planning and delivery tools such as MS Project or similar, Excel, and engineering/design software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation capabilities.
