Role Overview

The Logistic Analyst will manage the full import journey end to end, from purchase order release through final delivery. This role requires close coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, internal teams, and transport partners to ensure shipments move smoothly, compliantly, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete import cycle, beginning with PO issuance and ending with delivery at the destination.
  • Work with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and CHA partners to execute shipments without disruption.
  • Plan and monitor air and sea shipments so timelines are consistently met.
  • Examine and approve import paperwork, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading or air waybills, and certificates of origin.
  • Ensure adherence to DGFT rules, Customs Act requirements, import policy provisions, HS code classification, and duty structures.
  • Support any needed import licenses and certifications.
  • Coordinate with CHA representatives to secure prompt customs clearance.
  • Check the accuracy of Bill of Entry filings.
  • Ensure duties are paid on time and help prevent demurrage or detention charges.
  • Address customs queries and support audit-related requirements.
  • Negotiate freight pricing with forwarders and shipping lines.
  • Track and reduce logistics spend, including freight, duties, and warehousing costs.
  • Review landed cost data and identify practical opportunities for savings.
  • Monitor shipment progress, respond quickly to delays, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Maintain MIS records covering shipment performance, freight spend, and delivery timelines.
  • Handle relationships with overseas vendors, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
  • Coordinate activities with procurement, finance, and warehouse teams.
  • Spot operational bottlenecks and resolve import-related issues.
  • Manage risks linked to delays, documentation mistakes, and compliance gaps.
  • Ensure cargo insurance coverage is in place.
  • Plan inbound movement from port to warehouse and arrange last-mile transportation.
  • Coordinate with transporters for final delivery and confirm receipt and inspection of goods.
  • Check freight and CHA invoices for accuracy.
  • Support timely payment of duties and other statutory charges.
  • Drive logistics process improvements, lead time reduction, and better operating practices.
  • Use ERP/SAP tools for shipment tracking and reporting.

Requirements

  • A B.B.A. or B.M.S. degree in Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management is required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in import logistics or international supply chain operations is expected.
  • Prior exposure to manufacturing, trading, or distribution environments is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of import documentation, customs compliance, and freight coordination is needed.
