Job description

About FinMent

FinMent is a fast-growing Berlin-based FinTech startup with a clear mission: to help people make their money work more efficiently for them. The company aims to broaden access to institutional-grade investing by combining technology, trusted financial expertise, and exclusive strategies.

Role Overview

As a Junior Web Developer (m/w/d), you will support the product team in building scalable web applications and continuously improving the digital experience for thousands of customers.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain web applications across frontend, backend, or full-stack areas with a focus on speed, maintainability, and responsive implementation.
  • Create new features using JavaScript/TypeScript and related frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar technologies.
  • Work on backend services, including Node.js-based solutions where needed.
  • Connect and evolve REST APIs while integrating third-party services and data sources.
  • Participate in code reviews, write automated unit and integration tests, and contribute to deployment and CI/CD workflows.
  • Investigate bugs, improve performance, and help raise overall code quality.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering colleagues in an agile setup.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6 months to 1 year of hands-on application development experience, ideally gained through internships or similar roles.
  • Strong motivation and genuine enthusiasm for this kind of work, along with an interest in clean and agile project execution.
  • Proven willingness to take ownership beyond your comfort zone and move tasks forward quickly with a results-driven mindset.
  • A growth-oriented attitude with curiosity to learn, improve, and actively seek feedback while keeping the team’s success in view.
  • Good analytical and structured thinking skills to evaluate scenarios in advance and turn them into practical solutions.
  • German at ideally C1 level and good conversational English.
  • Preferred exposure to Next.js, server-side rendering, or static site generation.
  • Basic familiarity with GitHub, cloud platforms, or CI/CD tools.
  • Interest in FinTech, financial products, or data-driven applications.

What You Get

  • A collaborative relationship rather than a rigid employment setup.
  • The chance to act as a strategic sparring partner in a high-performance team of digital and investment experts.
  • A key role in helping scale the FinTech business.
  • Fast decision-making through flat hierarchies and direct access to leadership.
  • High ownership and freedom in shaping and improving your work.
  • A modern working setup with clean data structures and up-to-date tools.
  • Flexible hybrid working between remote work and the Berlin office in a professional, results-focused environment.
  • Potential for a long-term project partnership (retainer) if the collaboration is successful.
