Job description
About the Company
CrowdStrike is a global cybersecurity organization focused on preventing breaches with an AI-native security platform. Since its founding in 2011, the company has supported customers across many industries with technology designed to keep businesses operating, communities protected, and daily life moving forward. The culture is mission-led and aims to give employees both flexibility and ownership in their careers.
Role Overview
The Data Services team is seeking an experienced engineer to help advance the reliability and performance of its database platform. This is a highly technical, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with data-plane technologies and building automation for large, cloud-based, mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain and maintain strong operational knowledge of data infrastructure such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, then use that expertise to run and automate well-configured clusters.
- Administer databases and related services inside Kubernetes environments, including orchestration, container image handling, and workload rollout.
- Create Kubernetes-native patterns for data services, such as StatefulSets, persistent volumes, and efficient resource allocation for stateful applications.
- Build internal infrastructure capabilities that support the engineering organization’s move toward a full DevOps operating model.
- Partner with Engineering and Customer Support to resolve urgent production incidents, including issues that may occur outside standard working hours.
- Help protect and keep available petabytes of business-critical data.
Requirements
- Practical experience with configuration management, especially Chef.
- Strong scripting ability in Python and Bash.
- Background working with very large datastores using tools such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL.
- Hands-on experience operating databases in Kubernetes-based systems, including container orchestration, StatefulSets, persistent storage, and tuning for resource efficiency.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes utilities and concepts, including kubectl, Helm, YAML manifests, networking, storage classes, and cluster administration.
- Experience supporting large-scale Linux environments that are critical to business operations.
- Cloud experience, ideally across AWS, GCP, and OCI.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both co-located and distributed teams.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make strong decisions under pressure.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-driven approach balanced with the judgment to seek help when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, CIS, or Engineering.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive compensation and equity awards.
- Comprehensive wellness support for both physical and mental health.
- Generous vacation and holiday time to recharge.
- Paid parental and adoption leave.
- Professional development opportunities for employees at every level.
- Employee networks, neighborhood groups, and volunteer programs to help build community.
- Modern office environment with high-end amenities.
- Certified as a Great Place to Work globally.
