Job Overview

The Store Driver position at Advance Auto Parts in Barrie, Ontario involves safely delivering automotive parts to professional customers, handling returns, and supporting sales efforts. This role requires maintaining store cleanliness, managing inventory, and engaging with customers to enhance satisfaction and sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick, stage, and deliver automotive parts securely to professional customers.
  • Collect returns and core parts during deliveries.
  • Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers while promoting ongoing sales and loyalty programs.
  • Handle daily collection of credit accounts responsibly.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with both MainStreet and National Pro customers, sharing insights gained during deliveries to support sales associates.
  • Assist in upselling and cross-selling to increase the average transaction value.
  • Keep the store neat and clean, including floors, restrooms, facing, dusting, and parking areas.
  • Carry out general stocking tasks such as truck stocking, managing back stock, and performing cycle counts.
  • Stay informed about product inventory and new arrivals to better assist with sales.
  • Interact with walk-in customers to understand their needs and recommend suitable parts or services.
  • Perform additional assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record is mandatory.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both verbal and written; Spanish language skills are an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, parts catalogs, and manuals.
  • Basic math skills to accurately perform calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Experience using delivery board systems and inventory management tools.
  • Strong customer service orientation with ability to identify needs and suggest appropriate products.
  • Comfortable working various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education level.
  • Familiarity with automotive parts is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical and Work Environment

The role requires regular walking and standing. Employees must be capable of talking, hearing, using hands and fingers for handling, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance is expected. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus.

Work is primarily indoors but may occasionally involve exposure to different weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, work at heights, and be exposed to chemicals, electrical shock risks, explosives, and vibrations. Noise levels are typically moderate.

  • Hourly wage ranges from 17.60 to 18.85 Canadian dollars, depending on factors such as location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and shift differentials.
