About the Role

This opportunity involves leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies and working directly with extensive enterprise data environments such as data lakes, warehouses, and real-time transactional systems. As a Forward Deployed Engineer focused on Data and AI, you will collaborate with engineering and data architecture teams within large enterprises, implementing Google Cloud's data and AI tools including BigQuery, Dataproc, Dataflow, Dataform/dbt, Gemini for Data, and secure execution sandboxes. Your mission is to translate architectural concepts into robust, scalable production workflows that enhance performance and reliability for deployments such as Text-to-SQL and automated model evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop sophisticated AI-driven applications, transforming prototypes into production-ready agent workflows that deliver clear business value and ROI.
• Partner closely with customer engineering teams to embed Google’s high standards for code quality and development practices, ensuring enduring project success and product adoption.
• Design and implement high-volume batch and streaming data pipelines to manage multi-terabyte evaluation datasets and orchestrate offline and online evaluation processes for model assessment.
• Architect and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes using Dataform, dbt, BigQuery, or Dataproc to build enterprise data marts and semantic models that promote data quality, clear schema definitions, and accurate natural language analyses.
• Engineer large-scale synthetic data generation systems that preserve strict relational integrity across complex schemas, utilizing advanced generation tools and customized utilities to facilitate privacy-conscious model benchmarking and fine-tuning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in software development and data engineering using languages such as SQL, Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
• Experience working with modern ETL/ELT frameworks like dbt and Dataform, along with designing enterprise-level data modeling layers or marts.

Preferred Expertise

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency integrating semantic metadata standards, enterprise taxonomies, or ontologies into large-scale data repositories.
• Deep knowledge in building batch and online evaluation harnesses and intelligence mining workflows to measure LLM capabilities such as Text-to-SQL accuracy and semantic parsing.
• Proven skills in setting up secure code execution environments and interpreter sandboxes (e.g., Python/SQL) for automated data analyses.
• Expertise in generating synthetic data at scale, maintaining multi-table referential integrity using tools like Faker, Snowfakery, or custom constraint engines.
