Job description
Role Overview
This position involves leading the creation of a modular simulation platform focusing on healthcare systems. The fellow will design and implement simulation and optimization models, translating healthcare processes into scalable simulation architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of a versatile simulation platform tailored to healthcare.
- Develop and execute simulation and optimization models to support healthcare research.
- Analyze healthcare system workflows to build scalable simulation frameworks.
- Perform comprehensive literature reviews to inform and integrate existing research into model development.
- Support data integration efforts alongside model calibration and validation using healthcare datasets.
- Contribute to the preparation of academic publications, reports, and presentations at conferences.
- Collaborate with healthcare institutions and research stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
- Oversee development activities including AI-assisted programming and software deployment.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or related quantitative fields.
- Proficient programming expertise in Python.
- Hands-on experience with simulation modeling, preferably discrete-event simulation.
- Expertise in software and system design principles such as object-oriented programming and modular software architecture.
- Knowledge of optimization techniques and quantitative modeling frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in academic research, including scholarly writing and publication.
- Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary research teams and work independently.
- Familiarity or experience in healthcare analytics or operations research in healthcare is beneficial.
