Role Overview

The Director of Engineering spearheads the strategy, execution, and ongoing advancement of the engineering division. This role requires setting technical and delivery directions, cultivating high-performing teams, and ensuring software objectives meet business and customer expectations. The position focuses on delivering scalable, reliable, and secure products while upholding superior standards in quality, engineering practice, operational efficiency, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement engineering strategies aligning technology resources, product delivery, and team objectives with organizational goals and customer results.
• Develop, manage, and expand proficient engineering teams across software development, architecture, quality assurance, platform operations, and technical leadership.
• Oversee full lifecycle software delivery including planning, architecture, development, testing, release, and operations to ensure dependable and high-quality results.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Customer Success, Sales, Security, and Operations teams to shape executable engineering roadmaps reflecting business priorities.
• Define and refine architecture, technology standards, and engineering methodologies to support scalable, secure, maintainable, and reliable products.
• Enhance engineering quality through robust practices like code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, system observability, release preparedness, and incident handling.
• Manage resource allocation and prioritization balancing product milestones, customer demands, technical debt, system reliability, security concerns, and innovation efforts.
• Identify risks in delivery, technology, operations, and organizational processes early; lead mitigation strategies and ensure escalations and resolutions occur promptly.
• Advocate and incorporate AI, large language models, automation, and emerging tech to enhance product features, developer efficiency, quality, and operational workflows.
• Administer engineering budgets, headcount planning, vendor assessments, cost forecasting, and optimize cloud and technology investments.
• Establish and monitor vital engineering metrics while communicating project health, quality, reliability, productivity, risks, and strategic milestones to executive leadership.
• Drive talent management encompassing recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, leadership growth, and fostering a culture promoting ownership, client focus, and continuous growth.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Over 16 years of experience in software development within the industry.
• Minimum of five years managing and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Proven expertise with application architecture, design, development, and support using Java, React, and MongoDB technologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of quality engineering best practices, including test automation, quality strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and readiness for releases.
• Experience managing cloud-based systems that are large-scale, highly available, and resilient.
• Practical knowledge of observability and analytics tools such as ELK Stack, Splunk, and Gainsight.
• Familiarity with cloud service platforms, especially AWS and Azure, with insights on architecture, security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Strong background in integrating large language models, generative AI, natural language processing, and secure, scalable AI features into enterprise software.
