Job Overview
Under general supervision, the Proposal Developer 1 is tasked with creating and preparing detailed, high-quality budgets and proposals for designated customers, supporting the global sales team. This position entails reviewing Requests for Proposal (RFPs), coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring proposals and related materials meet accuracy, compliance, and customer requirements as well as internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze RFPs to extract necessary details for developing proposal narratives and budgets; work closely with the business development team to complete submissions.
- Formulate proposal texts and cost estimates for new bids, re-bids, and contract amendments consistent with the defined scope of work.
- Assist other proposal developers as needed to support active business opportunities.
- Update or draft preliminary agreements and corresponding budgets, ensuring clarity in scope and financial accuracy.
- Maintain awareness and compliance with all relevant proposal development policies, processes, and guidelines.
- Engage in strategic discussions to clarify client requirements and resolve discrepancies in customer information.
- Conduct thorough quality reviews and edits of proposal documents to assure precision, uniformity, and adherence to company standards.
- Facilitate the final preparation and distribution of proposal packages to clients and internal departments.
- Ensure corporate databases and tracking systems are current with accurate proposal information.
- Participate in customer meetings when necessary to support proposal efforts.
- Contribute to improvements in departmental procedures and processes.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Finance or similar field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Experience in proposal development, budgeting, contracts, or sales support is preferred.
- Strong focus on detail and ability to deliver error-free, timely documents.
- Proficient communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to handle several duties concurrently in a fast-moving environment.
- Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of proposal management systems is an added advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving aptitude with skill in working autonomously and within collaborative teams.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot for workflow enhancement.
