Job description
Role Overview
As the Cloud Platform Manager at Bunge, you will hold a pivotal leadership position within the Global IT team, steering a group of cloud engineers in creating, operating, and advancing Bunge's next-generation cloud platform. This platform underpins enterprise applications, data, AI, and digital solutions, ensuring technology is secure, scalable, and dependable.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and nurture a skilled cloud engineering team by providing mentorship, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Develop and implement the cloud platform vision and strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
- Promote and integrate engineering best practices including Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform-as-a-product principles.
- Design and govern the architecture of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud services, ensuring adherence to standards and automation frameworks.
- Champion security, compliance, and governance policies across cloud platforms, working alongside security and risk teams.
- Oversee operational excellence through platform reliability, incident management, performance optimization, and financial efficiency using FinOps practices.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including application teams, enterprise architecture, security, product owners, and external cloud service providers to prioritize and improve platform capabilities.
- Stay informed of industry trends to incorporate new cloud-native technologies and practices that enhance developer experience and operational effectiveness.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field; master's degree is advantageous.
- At least 7 years of experience in cloud engineering, including a minimum of 3 years in leadership roles overseeing large-scale public cloud platforms.
- Proven track record in managing and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Technical Expertise and Competencies
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms like Google Cloud (preferred), AWS, or Azure and deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and services.
- Proficiency in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, especially with tools like Terraform and cloud automation frameworks.
- Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, GKE, service mesh, and developer self-service platforms.
- Understanding of security frameworks including cloud IAM, compliance, and governance; ability to implement security-by-design.
- Software engineering skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Java, and familiarity with API design and automation development.
- Knowledge of cloud financial management including FinOps, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Experience working within Agile, DevOps, and Platform Engineering delivery models.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead a collaborative, empowering, customer-focused team culture driving results.
- Balance hands-on technical expertise with strategic planning and leadership.
- Contribute to workforce development, succession planning, and cross-team engineering standardization.
- Engage with internal and external partners including cloud providers, vendors, and industry groups.
