Job description
Role Overview
The Design Engineer will oversee managing and executing all technical and design elements relating to scaffolding projects. This includes ensuring that designs, calculations, drawings, amendments, and related documentation are produced accurately according to British Standards, company policies, client demands, and project specs.
Core Responsibilities
- Own all technical and design facets of scaffolding work ensuring compliance with relevant standards and company and client rules
- Prepare scaffolding designs including detailed structural calculations and technical drawings
- Guarantee scaffold erection follows approved internal design and standards
- Review and validate scaffold design adjustments to confirm structural safety and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with senior technical staff and other engineers to fulfill design and engineering objectives
- Engage with clients to clarify design and technical requirements to ensure timely and correct deliverables
- Coordinate with site management personnel to communicate design and technical needs for scaffolds
- Support site teams technically ensuring approved designs are implemented effectively on-site
- Assist senior management in preparing technical and commercial components of tender submissions
- Work with Quantity Surveyors to provide quotations and conduct quantity surveys for scaffolding demands
- Help prepare and negotiate contract variation work with clients
- Contribute to project scheduling and monitor progress to facilitate smooth implementation
- Prepare method statements and job safety analyses where necessary
- Compile pre-qualification and technical submissions for potential and current clients
- Maintain and update all technical documentation accurately
- Notify Quality Management Representative of any required updates to Management Control Procedures
- Perform additional duties assigned by Regional or General Manager
- Adhere strictly to company directives, technical processes, quality standards, and regulations
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification
- Preferably trained in scaffolding design and engineering
- Proficient in CAD/CAAD software and technical drawing tools
- At least five years of relevant experience in engineering design and technical drawing
- Strong preference for candidates with scaffolding design and engineering experience
- Experience within construction, scaffolding, or related industrial sectors
- Skilled in preparing technical calculations, drawings, method statements, and technical submissions

Bachelor's Degree
