About the Role and Team

As a vital team member based in Galway operating in a hybrid model, your contributions will guarantee an engaging user experience across diverse devices and locations, enabling the next generation of hybrid work environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development cycles by designing, encoding, testing, and deploying Kubernetes microservices configurations including Deployments, Services, Ingress, and ConfigMaps, utilizing Kubernetes and Helm tools.
- Create reusable foundational configuration templates with environment-specific overlays, facilitating secure promotion through development, staging, and production phases.
- Drive excellence in operations using GitOps principles with tools like Argo CD, implement progressive delivery strategies such as canary releases and validation gates, automate scaling and resiliency features, and ensure secure management of secrets through HashiCorp Vault and Kubernetes Secrets.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to expedite development, validation, and optimization of infrastructure-as-code configurations, enhancing delivery velocity and minimizing deployment risks.
- Tackle intricate challenges in configuration, policy enforcement, observability, and data services employing data-centric approaches with platforms like Prometheus and Grafana to elevate system reliability and performance.
- Take full ownership of configuration integrity by enforcing governance through Open Policy Agent, guaranteeing secure, compliant, and reproducible deployments with support for backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.
- Advance a self-service deployment platform by integrating Backstage and Argo CD, empowering teams to use declarative configurations aligned with best practices for continuous enhancement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in analytical disciplines such as Computer Science or Electronic/Software Engineering.
- At least 7 years of professional software development experience demonstrating strong coding practices and architectural understanding.
- Proven capability and enthusiasm for mastering new technologies rapidly.
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to apply scientific methods and creativity to complex technical issues.
- Flexibility and excellent collaboration skills; effective communicator within diverse teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail paired with a dedication to ongoing learning and delivering high-quality outcomes.
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and microservices architectures.
- Proficiency in Helm or Kustomize for configuration management.
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows, especially Argo CD.
- Knowledge in managing secrets with tools like HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience with observability tools focusing on metrics, logging, and tracing.
- Knowledge of policy enforcement techniques, particularly using Open Policy Agent.
