Job description

About the Role

This position is based in Dubai at Kempinski Hotels within the Spa & Recreation department. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of guests around the pool and beach areas during operational hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the safety of guests and employees within designated swimming areas, including the pool and beach, throughout business hours.
  • Maintain active certification from a recognized global Lifeguard Association, including proficiency in Artificial Resuscitation (mouth-to-mouth) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Ensure swimming zones are free from hazards such as engine-driven boats, windsurfers, and sea bikes, keeping swimmers and snorkelers clear of boat paths and other dangerous areas.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies within the hotel's aquatic zones.
  • Manage the safety equipment setup, including placing life-saving flotation devices along shorelines and around pools, correctly displaying safety flags, readying rescue surfboards or boats, ensuring first aid kits are accessible, and posting business hours, pool depths, water/air temperatures, and wind conditions.
  • Ensure a rescue boat with an engine is constantly available on site.
  • Maintain accurate logs of water sports equipment such as windsurfers, sailing boats, and sea bikes, including crew numbers, confirming activities occur only within approved zones.
  • Monitor and supervise windsurfers, sailors, and sea bike users while on the water, organizing rescues as necessary.
  • Enforce safety regulations for all water sports and pool activities.
  • Provide temporary coverage during breaks or absences to maintain continuous safety oversight.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies regarding fire safety, hygiene, health and safety standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and hotel regulations.
  • Identify, report, and ensure swift correction of any hazards.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management, recognizing that responsibilities may evolve according to business needs.
