Job description

About Mountain Club

Mountain Club is the exclusive global members' club located in Queenstown, designed for leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators who desire meaningful connection and collaboration in unique ways. The club hosts more than 300 events annually across two venues in Queenstown, ranging from intimate industry discussions to member-organized celebrations.

Role Overview

This position combines two core responsibilities: serving as a Mountain Club Host and as an Event Coordinator. As a Host, you will be the welcoming face of the club, offering excellent hospitality by crafting quality coffee and managing bar service, maintaining cleanliness, managing bookings, and making every member feel valued. As an Event Coordinator, you will oversee event logistics from run sheet creation through setup, management, and teardown, ensuring seamless execution without developing event concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome members and visitors warmly at both venues
  • Manage front desk functions, room reservations, and daily operations
  • Prepare and serve coffee and bar drinks consistently to a high standard
  • Develop comprehensive event plans detailing logistics including catering, audio-visuals, equipment, and vendor coordination
  • Lead the preparation, delivery, and cleanup phases of events
  • Act as on-site duty manager for events requiring licensing
  • Document event moments for internal records and social media sharing
  • Provide occasional support on larger event projects alongside the wider team

Candidate Profile

  • Possession of a valid New Zealand Duty Manager's Certificate or LCQ Certificate with capability to apply for Duty Manager status
  • Minimum two years of hospitality experience involving café and bar environments
  • Competent barista skills with confidence in coffee making; cocktail-making skills are an added advantage
  • Highly organized with strong ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and events
  • Calm and composed under pressure, adapting flexibly as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a natural approach to engaging others
  • Proactive attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Willingness and commitment to reside in Queenstown for at least twelve months

Additional Information

The role is full-time with hours mainly Monday to Friday and occasional evenings, typically ending by 9 pm. Shifts depend on the event schedule and will require working at both venues in Queenstown.
