About the Role
South West Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled Floor Layer to support the local Council in Bournemouth, Dorset. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in domestic flooring, particularly within social housing, occupied residences, disability adaptations, and bathroom refurbishment projects. The main responsibility will be assisting the Bathroom Adaptations Team by installing specialist flooring systems in level access shower rooms and adapted bathrooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and install safety flooring, cap and cove systems, vinyl flooring, and hot weld finishes with high quality and compliance to relevant standards.
- Work primarily within level access shower rooms and wet room environments, understanding falls, gradients, and waterproof flooring needs around showers.
- Operate independently, managing workload efficiently and adhering to schedules populated by a call centre and planner using provided iPad technology.
- Complete inspection forms, certification, photographic documentation, and maintain communication via email through the provided iPad.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in installing commercial and domestic safety flooring systems.
- Capability to accurately fit and finish cap and cove flooring.
- Expertise in hot air and floor joint welding techniques.
- Valid current driving license as a company van will be supplied.
- Desirable experience working within occupied homes, disability adaptations, and level access shower projects.
- Hardworking, enthusiastic personality with good interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- No unspent criminal convictions; subject to a Basic DBS check.
Employment Details and Benefits
- Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (PAYE), dependent on experience.
- Working hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, totaling 39 hours per week.
- Company-provided van, iPad, and phone.
- Annual £450 tool allowance.
- Full uniform and personal protective equipment provided.
- 24 days of holiday annually, increasing up to 31 days plus bank holidays, with option to purchase up to 5 additional days.
- Early finish available on Fridays.
