Job description
About Seccl
Seccl is an embedded investment platform under Octopus, dedicated to making investing accessible and easy for more people. Powering major UK fintechs, banks, and wealth firms, nearly a million investors rely on Seccl's technology. The company is expanding across Europe with a product built to scale, backed by the stability and long-term vision of Octopus, a successful private investment and technology group that values both profit and purpose.
Role Summary
As a Talent Partner reporting to the Talent Lead, you will play a crucial role in delivering recruitment for Seccl’s ambitious hiring goals. Primarily supporting Product and Engineering teams, you will manage the recruitment lifecycle from role intake to closing hires. Besides your core focus, you will also recruit across different teams as priorities shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment across multiple open roles, mainly within Product and Engineering, while adapting to recruitment needs elsewhere in the company.
- Build diverse and strong candidate pipelines through direct sourcing, managing agencies, innovative search strategies, and thoughtful candidate engagement.
- Maintain momentum in hiring processes by quickly identifying and resolving obstacles, keeping candidates and teams engaged.
- Collaborate closely with hiring managers and leadership to clarify hiring needs, share market insights, and support informed, evidence-based decision-making.
- Uphold high hiring standards and an inclusive candidate experience without introducing unnecessary process complexity.
- Use recruitment data and operational insights to continuously improve hiring practices, contributing ideas to the Talent Lead and People team.
Who You Are
- Experienced in leading full recruitment cycles across multiple live vacancies.
- Specialist knowledge in Product and Engineering recruitment, combining technical understanding with market awareness to engage hiring teams credibly.
- Proficient in direct sourcing, building effective relationships with candidates proactively.
- Highly organized, proactive, and delivery-orientated, able to drive hiring momentum independently.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining focus and adaptability.
- Skilled at providing constructive challenge and pragmatic advice, balancing guidance with enabling hiring managers to own final decisions.
- Flexible in recruiting outside core specialisms as business needs evolve, ideally with experience in fast-growing or scale-up environments.
Not a Fit If
- You prefer a primarily strategic or project-based HR role over hands-on recruitment delivery.
- You require stable priorities and fixed procedures; this role demands adaptability to changing business needs.
- You want to remain strictly within one recruitment specialization without flexibility.
- You see your role as owning hiring decisions rather than collaborating to enable hiring managers' choices.
- You rely mainly on inbound applications or agencies rather than proactive sourcing and pipeline building.
Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000, subject to annual review.
- Generous pension (6% employer contribution) and life assurance benefits.
- 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, birthday off, and paid dependent leave.
- Two volunteering days annually and the option to work abroad for up to six weeks each year.
- Recognition program 'Secclbrate' offering flexible rewards such as extra pay, holiday, and enhanced learning budgets.
- One-month paid sabbatical after eight years of service.
- Private medical insurance with AXA Health.
- Enhanced parental leave provisions.
- MacBook laptop and up to £500 reimbursement for home office setup.
- Annual £750 learning budget.
- Robust health and wellbeing support including free therapy and mental health resources.
- Financial wellbeing benefits including Octopus Money, Share Incentive Plan, and will writing services.
- Access to Perkbox for discounts and perks, as well as Cycle to Work and electric vehicle leasing schemes.
Company Culture
Seccl fosters an inclusive work environment where people feel valued, trusted, and empowered to perform their best work. The company encourages openness, curiosity, diverse viewpoints, experimentation, and individual ownership, aiming to create a workplace that supports growth and innovation.
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Competency-based interview with the Talent Lead.
- Stage 2: Interview with Head of People and Talent Lead focusing on recruitment expertise, possibly including a case study or live task.
- Final Stage: Cultural fit interview (45 minutes) with two key stakeholders.
Diversity & Inclusion
Seccl is committed to building a diverse workforce and an inclusive company, welcoming applicants regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, or any other status. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they don’t meet every criterion.
