Overview
Under the direction of the VP of Engineering, the Software Engineer will engage in designing and creating Epsilon’s software solutions. As a vital squad member, you will participate from initial concept through to fully functional products, collaborating closely with product, design, and testing teams to adhere to technical standards, implement best practices, and produce customer-oriented, stable, and scalable systems. This role encourages versatility across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers, with opportunities to develop specialization based on interests and business needs. The role also involves leveraging DevOps expertise. Your primary focus will be to contribute to multiple development projects that build both new and existing features.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on technical solution design within your squad, partnering with senior engineers to decompose challenges and select pragmatic solutions
- Develop high-quality software products focused on customer needs, ensuring smooth rollout and ongoing production support
- Create, review, and maintain codebases, design specifications, and other technical documentation
- Implement sound engineering principles, standards, and design patterns consistently in your work area
- Enhance system reliability, scalability, and operations in coordination with your squad
- Utilize DevOps knowledge to maintain and improve infrastructure, build processes, and deployment pipelines
- Engage actively in code reviews, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Investigate and resolve issues spanning code and tooling efficiently to closure
Qualifications and Skills
- Between 2 and 5 years’ experience as a software engineer, preferably with backend development expertise in statically typed compiled languages (such as Java or Go), with openness to learn these if experienced in others
- Strong foundation in programming, database management, and system architecture concepts
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and microservice system architecture
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and full software development life cycle
- Competence in writing unit and integration tests
- Additional DevOps skills including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and container technologies (e.g., Docker)
- Effective communication abilities tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Capability to work productively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical problem-solving and technical writing skills
Desirable Expertise
- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and Helm
- Experience using build tools such as Bazel
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions
- Background working with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
- Industry experience in Ad Tech, Retail Media, e-commerce, or recommendation systems
- Exposure to real-time bidding, auction systems, or processing high-throughput data pipelines
- Some frontend development experience with modern frameworks such as React
- Interest in platform engineering and improving developer experience
- Contributions to open source projects or technical writing publications
