Senior Software Development Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Software Engineer to become a key part of our Beacon Core Engineering team at Clearwater Analytics in London. This team is responsible for developing critical components of our Beacon Cloud platform, including developer tools such as IDE integration, code review systems, test frameworks, release management, runtime execution environments like batch and supercomputer schedulers, containerization, and coding libraries related to financial data modeling.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, deploy, and sustain high-quality software code characterized by simplicity, clarity, solid structure, and thorough testing.
• Leverage AI agents to accelerate development processes safely and guide both clients and colleagues on their effective usage.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems efficiently through comprehensive research and teamwork.
• Communicate proficiently across various channels tailored to diverse audiences and timing.
• Develop and uphold different tiers of automated testing including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.
• Provide mentorship to junior and less experienced developers by sharing knowledge and encouraging best practices.
• Facilitate design and feature discussions, pushing for improvements in software scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional units to ensure integrated and successful software delivery.
• Promptly diagnose and resolve production issues ensuring minimal disruption.
• Understand customer requirements attentively and address concerns promptly with empathy.
• Carry out additional reasonable tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript; Rust development skills are an advantage.
• Knowledge of C++ is desirable.
• Prior exposure to the financial industry is beneficial.
• Strong expertise in typed, object-oriented programming languages.
• Comprehensive understanding of software development methodologies, architectural patterns, and tooling.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in software development, notably using Python or other object-oriented programming languages.
