Role Overview

Bechtel has delivered major infrastructure and resource projects around the world since 1898. The company works across infrastructure, nuclear, security and environmental, energy, mining and metals, and manufacturing and technology sectors, from early planning through start-up and operations.
This opportunity is part of the Eva Copper Mine Project, a greenfield resource development in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The project is owned by Harmony and Bechtel is responsible for the EPC scope for the process plant and non-process infrastructure.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for day-to-day timekeeping activities performed under established procedures and labor requirements. The role works closely with payroll, accounting, workforce services, and site supervision to keep attendance and pay data accurate and current.
Additional Responsibilities
The job also includes support for site onboarding, badge management, payroll queries, reporting, and records administration. You may also be asked to provide temporary coverage for other FIFO timekeeping staff and assist with related tasks as assigned by leadership.
Additional Information
The role requires solid communication skills, good time management, intermediate spreadsheet ability, and practical experience with payroll and timekeeping systems. It reports to the Lead Timekeeper and the project-deployed accounting supervisor, and interacts with craft employees, labor relations, payroll shared services, IS&T support, leading hands, superintendents, and foremen.

Employment Terms
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Cloncurry, Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster. The work location is a construction jobsite, and telework is not part of the arrangement.
Requirements
Applicants should bring either a university-hire profile with 1–2 years of experience, or 5–6 years of relevant work experience. Prior exposure to payroll and timekeeping processes, confidentiality standards, and customer service in a professional setting is important.
Experience with Etrack or a similar timekeeping and payroll platform is required, along with familiarity with large FIFO-style construction environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Work Activities
- Coordinate with Workforce Services to ensure payroll details for craft professionals are entered correctly and on time.
- Enter and update data such as new hires, exits, and changes to pay rates or job classifications.
- Handle onboarding for new project hires, including site badging.
- Check daily attendance records through the project electronic timekeeping platform.
- Reconcile and export daily craft time records.
- Support replacement badges and troubleshoot time clock issues.
- Prepare and circulate routine reports such as force reports, attendance exceptions, and timesheet completion updates.
- Sort, confirm, and distribute weekly payroll checks and direct deposit slips.
- Process leave requests and daily call-ins for craft employees.
- Maintain employee files and scan records for retention purposes.
- Update crew timesheets as directed by construction supervision.
- Carry out gate watch duties using badge scanning at the project site.
- Provide payroll-related service and support to craft workers.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the Timekeeping Supervisor or Project Finance and Accounting Manager.
Payroll and Compliance Notes
The role includes checking discrepancies between timesheets and badge scans, ensuring absences are coded correctly, verifying time payouts for terminated employees, and making sure payroll outputs meet internal deadlines and Australian statutory requirements. Year-end payroll statements, paychecks, and employee entitlements must be handled in line with those requirements.
Team Coordination
The position works alongside project accounting, labor relations, payroll shared services, and site leadership to support SAP timekeeping and payroll operations, daily time charges, and pay-related questions.
