Position Overview
We are looking for a Principal Engineer specializing in Process Engineering within Unit Module Development. This senior technical position involves developing and refining semiconductor fabrication processes, problem-solving complex technical challenges, and mentoring engineering teams. The role demands practical technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external collaborators.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and refine process formulations and controls that achieve rigorous quality benchmarks.
- Analyze, interpret, and review technical data and charts to validate process performance.
- Develop and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for related processes.
- Integrate equipment and material capabilities to align with process module and technology requirements.
- Lead creation, upkeep, and enhancement of recipes for inspection and review tools including Brightfield, Darkfield, and SEM instruments to reduce inspection times and improve quality.
- Drive Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs) to boost process efficiency and throughput.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional teams to meet corporate objectives.
- Act as a subject matter expert providing coaching and training to less experienced engineers.
- Work closely with vendors and internal teams for benchmarking and knowledge exchange.
- Tackle complex, novel, and single-instance technical problems with innovative solutions.
- Proactively enhance existing processes through significant modifications and innovations.
- Contribute to intellectual property development as an inventor on patent applications.
- Engage in safety, environmental, health, and security compliance initiatives while promoting safe working practices.
- Share technical knowledge by participating in conferences and journal publications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Microelectronics Engineering.
- Between 5 and 8 years’ experience in wafer fabrication industry settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficient analytical thinker with effective project management skills.
- Organized and methodical in problem-solving techniques familiar with SPC (Statistical Process Control), DOE (Design of Experiments), and FMEA.
