Role Overview

The Estimation Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position located in Doha, responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation specifically for fire protection, electro-mechanical, and related construction projects. This includes thorough analysis of project drawings and specifications, conducting quantity take-offs, coordinating with engineering and project teams, and acquiring and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotes. The incumbent will aid in bid preparations, partake in technical and commercial negotiations, and contribute to value engineering efforts aimed at cost savings. Additionally, they will maintain estimation records, update estimates for ongoing projects, and collaborate with management to ensure proposals are both competitive and accurate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Comprehensive BOQ and Project Estimation capabilities, including quantity take-offs, detailed cost analysis, and tender document preparation.
  • Solid understanding of Civil Engineering principles applied to construction, fire protection, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong negotiation skills to coordinate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficient research skills to gather technical data, market trends, and pricing to inform accurate estimation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Prior experience in fire protection, MEP, or construction initiatives within Qatar or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Qatar National Construction Codes and NFPA/QCDD standards, alongside awareness of local regulatory demands.
  • Proficiency with estimation software and spreadsheet tools; knowledge of CAD or other design software is considered a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities with a strong eye for detail.
  • Effective collaborator capable of working within multidisciplinary teams and clear communicator in English; Arabic language skills are an added benefit.
