About the Role
We are seeking a experienced Design Development Engineer specializing in Body-in-White (BIW) components to join a leading automotive client located in Pune. This position involves working on the design, development, and validation of BIW components and sheet metal parts, ensuring manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop BIW components and structural parts tailored to automotive requirements.
- Create sheet-metal designs considering design constraints, manufacturing feasibility, and assembly processes.
- Conduct technical feasibility and manufacturability assessments for component designs.
- Prepare and critically review detailed 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and relevant engineering documentation.
- Participate actively in design reviews, manage engineering changes, and control design releases.
- Apply geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA), design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA), and tolerance analysis in daily tasks.
- Collaborate with suppliers to conduct technical reviews and evaluate manufacturing capabilities.
- Support prototype builds, resolve production and assembly-related challenges, and facilitate product validation.
- Manage engineering change implementation and ensure smooth component development lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience in BIW component and product development.
- Proficiency in sheet metal design methodologies and tools.
- Hands-on expertise with CATIA V5 and/or UG-NX CAD software.
- In-depth understanding of BIW manufacturing processes including tooling and die development.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings standards, GD&T, DFMEA, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Experience coordinating automotive product development with suppliers.
- Ability to work from Pune office with a 5-day onsite workweek.
- Availability for face-to-face or virtual interviews based on hiring manager preference.
- Immediate joiners preferred; maximum 15 days notice period considered.
Additional Information
- Compensation package up to INR 1,300,000 per annum.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday, full-time from office.
