About Centrecare
Centrecare is a non-profit organization employing over 300 staff and dedicated to providing quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation, and training services. It operates across more than 11 locations in Perth metropolitan, Goldfields, and South West regions.
Program Overview
The Reintegration and Parenting program assists individuals up to six months before and twelve months after their release from prison. Services include transport, temporary housing, parenting, and family support, focusing primarily on planning for reentry as a voluntary program.
Position Summary
The Case Worker will engage with incarcerated clients and support them post-release in the community, undertaking tasks such as:
- Visiting clients during incarceration.
- Conducting group sessions within prison settings.
- Assisting clients with home visits in the Kalgoorlie area.
- Transporting clients to their home communities, potentially up to 1500 km away.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering excellent reentry services for clients exiting prison.
- Meeting goals and outcomes of Re-Entry funded initiatives.
- Assisting the Program Manager and Team Leader in service planning, implementation, evaluation, and coordination including leading group education sessions.
- Offering outreach support to clients and families across the Goldfields region, possibly involving community events and targeted group work.
- Participating in case management alongside internal and external agencies.
- Providing client referrals as needed.
- As a Level 5 Case Worker, leveraging a minimum of three years' senior experience to mentor staff and support team leadership.
Essential Selection Criteria
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Community Services, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Aboriginal Studies, or relevant fields.
- At least three years of experience working with Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities, especially in remote areas of Western Australia.
- Strong skills in casework and assessments, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Experience working with offenders, supporting service access, and fostering engagement with external agencies.
- Possession of a valid National Police Certificate (within 12 months).
- Working With Children Check or eligibility to obtain one.
- Valid Western Australia Driver's licence and access to own vehicle for outreach activities.
