Role Overview
We seek an experienced Backend Software Engineer to become a key member of our Backend Engineering team. This team frequently tackles complex technical challenges, enhancing both new features and existing solutions. The tech stack spans major cloud providers like AWS, GCP, Azure, and employs advanced technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, Redis, TimescaleDB, and RabbitMQ.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full software development lifecycle of various short-term projects, encompassing design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance in production environments.
- Analyze and optimize reliability and performance of applications primarily written in Golang and Java.
- Contribute to technical and architectural planning, including capacity forecasting, service level objective (SLO) definition, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for execution.
- Participate in design and code reviews within the engineering team to uphold code quality and best practices.
- Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, and Product teams to deliver exceptional features.
Work Arrangement
The role follows a hybrid working pattern, requiring presence in the Custom House Square offices in Belfast three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday), with remote work on the other days.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of one year experience in backend engineering using high-level languages, preferably Golang and/or Java.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.
- Hands-on experience building data-intensive systems including databases, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
- Proficient with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
