About the Role and Company

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) division within Deutsche Börse Group’s IT department is central to managing the company’s group-wide IT infrastructure, including networks, data centers, cloud services, and advanced data analytics. This unit plays a vital role in driving digital transformation and innovation while maintaining stable production operations across shared services.

We invite a motivated Backend Engineer specializing in Go to join the team responsible for the DBG Marketplace, a key platform in the Deutsche Börse Group's digital ecosystem. This role involves constructing and enhancing backend services and APIs essential to the platform's functionality. Alongside strong technical expertise, candidates will also engage in product-focused activities, collaborating closely with the Product Owner to refine requirements and prioritize deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using the Go programming language.
• Develop APIs that support the DBG Marketplace and integrate with other systems.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of production-grade services, focusing on performance and sound architecture.
• Design and oversee database interactions to maintain data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with DevOps for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
• Contribute to API and service design discussions alongside the Product Owner and development team.
• Assist the Product Owner by clarifying scope, validating technical feasibility, managing dependencies, and identifying potential technical risks early.
• Lead or participate actively in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, code reviews, and backlog grooming to facilitate consistent delivery.
• Engage in ongoing efforts to improve team development practices and workflows.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in backend or software engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency with Go (Golang) in backend or server-side development contexts.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Comprehensive understanding of backend principles including data modeling, defining service boundaries, managing errors, and optimizing performance.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including writing and optimizing queries.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Experience working within agile frameworks like Scrum or Kanban.
• An inclination towards understanding product context and user impact beyond code implementation.
• Effective communication skills to work with both engineering teams and product stakeholders for requirement clarification.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with microservices architecture.
• Background in supporting or operating production environments.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform, though AWS and Azure experience are also relevant.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and continuous integration/delivery practices.
• Understanding of observability tools and practices, including logging, metrics, and monitoring.
• Basic knowledge of backend security concepts such as authentication, authorization, and API protection.
