About the Role
Join Ridgeline as a Staff Software Engineer within our Trading Team, where you'll engineer transformative software and tackle sophisticated technical challenges. This dynamic position involves creating new features, enhancing current systems, and providing essential hands-on maintenance to ensure highly critical trading applications operate flawlessly.
In this role, you will contribute throughout the entire software development lifecycle—from conceptual design and coding to deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams harnessing cutting-edge technologies and AI-driven tools to craft a trailblazing Trade Order Management platform that influences investment management's future.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer deep technical knowledge and design insights within a collaborative environment integrating product, design, strategy, and engineering.
- Engage in all phases of development: requirements gathering, architecture reviews, coding, testing, deployment, and continued operation.
- Develop, improve, and uphold scalable, reliable applications utilizing AWS and modern backend technologies.
- Rapidly identify and resolve production issues, ensuring continuous support for mission-critical trading workflows.
- Collaborate with internal teams to pinpoint root causes of incidents, improve system robustness, and enhance maintainability.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow engineers while upholding best practices for secure, high-performance enterprise software.
- Approach tasks with ownership, innovation, and clear communication, balancing immediate fixes with long-term architectural considerations.
- Foster a culture of transparency, continuous learning, and teamwork within the engineering organization.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field.
- At least eight years of professional experience in software engineering focused on application design, creation, and support.
- Six or more years specializing in Java or Kotlin, or equivalent proficiency in modern backend programming languages.
- Strong foundation in software design patterns, object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), SOLID principles, and unit testing automation.
- Demonstrated experience developing and supporting cloud-native solutions, ideally hosted on AWS.
- Proficient at diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems with an analytical and systematic approach.
- Some familiarity with frontend web technologies such as React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, and openness to multi-stack contribution.
- Capability to manage urgent troubleshooting alongside strategic system improvements.
- Exceptional communication skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration among engineering, product, and support teams.
- A constructive mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to a supportive, high-performance team environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience in engineering buy-side order management systems.
- Understanding of financial instruments and valuation methodologies.
- Educational background or strong knowledge in mathematics.
- Hands-on experience with FIX and/or SWIFT financial messaging protocols.
