Senior Data Engineer (Oracle / SQL / Amazon Redshift)

About the Role

Cinergie Digital FZCO is searching for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to join an impactful full-time, on-site project in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will possess substantial expertise in Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, and Amazon Redshift, tasked with creating robust, scalable data warehousing solutions that handle both structured and unstructured datasets. This role involves end-to-end ownership of data architecture, optimization of data pipelines, and ensuring data integrity. Experience in the aviation or airlines sector is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable database solutions including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and complex PL/SQL objects for critical business logic.
• Create and enhance SQL and PL/SQL code for ETL processing with bulk data handling capabilities for large datasets.
• Build data integration workflows combining multiple data sources and maintain data warehouses using Oracle and Amazon Redshift.
• Perform data transformations and analytical operations to support reporting with emphasis on data accuracy and completeness.
• Optimize query performance, tune database objects and ETL processes to meet service level agreements, and address performance bottlenecks proactively.
• Develop logical and physical data models aligned with technical and business objectives; establish schema standards and document models comprehensively.
• Collaborate closely with IT and business units to gather requirements, participate in technical discussions, and ensure clear communication and smooth knowledge transfer.

Technical Skills Required

• Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL development, including complex debugging and optimization of stored procedures, packages, triggers, and cursors.
• Experience with bulk processing techniques such as BULK COLLECT, FORALL, and parallel processing for handling large volumes.
• Hands-on knowledge of Oracle Database administration, schema management, partitioning, indexing, and performance tuning at an enterprise level.
• In-depth familiarity with Amazon Redshift architecture, including distribution styles, sort keys, vacuum/analyze processes, and columnar query optimization.
• Strong grasp of data modeling and schema design methodologies including dimensional modeling, normalization/denormalization, OLTP, and OLAP schemas.
• Proven ability to diagnose slow queries and optimize SQL across Oracle and Redshift environments.
• Skilled in designing ETL/ELT pipelines integrating diverse sources into centralized data warehouses.
• Proficient in root cause analysis to resolve data quality and operational issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Domain knowledge in airlines or aviation data standards is a significant plus.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 up to 8 years of experience in data engineering or related disciplines.
• Advanced expertise in SQL/PL-SQL development with a solid track record of troubleshooting and optimizing production systems.
• Practical experience in bulk data handling for extensive enterprise workloads.
• Strong background in data modeling, schema design, and query tuning across both relational and analytical platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage Oracle Database and Amazon Redshift, including setup, tuning, and operations monitoring.
• Effective at tuning performance across ETL workflows and production SQL queries for high-scale data environments.
• Exceptional analytical skills to troubleshoot data issues causing minimal disruption.
• Preferable experience in the aviation or airline industry.

Compensation

The offered salary range for this full-time position is AED 10,000 to 13,000 per month.
