About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable IP Licensing Manager to oversee the monetization and licensing of the organization's intellectual property (IP) assets. This key position is based in the United Arab Emirates and operates fully remotely. The role demands a mid-level to senior professional, with responsibilities spanning IP strategy, commercialization, licensing negotiations, portfolio management, and stakeholder collaboration to boost the value derived from intellectual property.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement IP licensing strategies that align with business goals and commercial targets.
- Identify valuable IP assets suitable for licensing and prioritize these based on market demand, competitive standing, and revenue potential.
- Create short-term and long-term licensing plans while evaluating various licensing models such as exclusive, non-exclusive, cross-licensing, and sublicensing.
- Maintain a comprehensive commercial perspective of the IP portfolio, analyzing patents, trademarks, software, and other IP to recommend management strategies including protection, consolidation, or retirement.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to convert IP into tangible commercial value through diverse routes including licensing, joint ventures, technology transfers, and partnerships.
- Build and nurture a pipeline of qualified licensees by researching potential industry partners and establishing strong, value-driven relationships.
- Manage licensing opportunities through CRM, forecast revenue, and report progress to leadership, ensuring accurate tracking of licensor-licensee engagements.
- Provide support in IP valuation activities using financial modeling, market comparison, and scenario analysis to inform pricing and deal structuring.
- Lead or assist in detailed negotiations involving financial terms, exclusivity, territorial rights, royalties, and sublicensing with prospective licensees, coordinating with legal and financial teams.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience in IP licensing, commercialization, or related fields such as technology transfer and business development.
- In-depth understanding of intellectual property rights, licensing types, and contract structures.
- Experience negotiating complex IP agreements and managing strategic partnerships.
- Strong financial acumen with capabilities in valuation and commercial modeling.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across legal, technical, finance, and executive teams in an international, distributed environment.
- Familiarity with diverse industries including software, SaaS, AI, engineering, life sciences, or energy is a plus.
- Relevant academic credentials in Intellectual Property, Law, Business, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Professional certifications related to IP, licensing, or contract management are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic is beneficial for UAE/GCC contexts.
- Capable of independently managing multiple complex licensing projects and relationships simultaneously.
